Summer Nails with Roxanne Campbell: A Review*

I love having my nails painted and I have been even more conscious of having a fresh manicure since getting engaged. Honestly, I don’t think people have ever asked to see my hands more than in the last few months!

Although my days of spending hours trying out different nail art might be behind, I still love to switch things up with different shades. When celebrity nail expert Roxanne Campbell contacted me and invited me to try four shades from her range, naturally I jumped at the chance.

Roxanne is the lead manicurist and nail artist at both London AND Paris Fashion Week and it is her knowledge and experience that led her to create a range of British made, cruelty free polishes so even if you aren’t on the catwalk, you can certainly feel like your nails should be.

In the summer when the sun is shining, I find myself reaching for bolder colours so I picked out three that really matched that brief; Kiss Me First - a vivid and beautiful pink shade, Sitting Pretty - a show stopping bright red and Violets Are Blue - a vibrant cobalt. Lastly I opted for a more muted shade. I’ve really taken a liking to grey polishes and Stormy Weather really caught my eye.

Since I started collecting nail polishes in my teens, I have amassed a collection of hundreds different shades from different brands so I do fancy of myself as a bit of connoisseur when it comes to polishes. One of the key features for me that a polish should have is a good formula. I’ve tried some before that can be a little thick and I find them hard to get on with.

When I applied the Roxanne Campbell polishes, I was pleased to find they are on the runnier side and with great pigment. I put on one coat and found that within minutes it had tried enough for me to apply my second. I do prefer a slightly thicker brush, but this one was still easy to use. Just a couple of coats gave a really strong and full colour, as bright as you would expect from the bottle, with good coverage and no streaks.

I was also impressed that my nails were left really shiny. I cycled through the different polishes to test out the longevity once applied and I was pleased on this front as well. Sometimes I think certain shades of a range don’t turn out to be as good as other, but these all proved to be consistently good.

My favourite polish of the set is probably Violets Are Blue. I love how it is a little bit more unusual and really commands attention when you are wearing it. Blue is also my favourite colour, so it makes sense really.

The polishes are all priced at £10, which I think is quite reasonable for a higher end polish. The different polishes are also carefully grouped into different collections on the website for shoppers, so that you quickly opt for one that will give the look that you are going for. For example, French Polish or Summer.

On the whole, I have been really impressed with the polishes that I tried and I love that I can now create runway ready nails from the comfort of my own front room. The formula is chip resistant, the colours available are all really beautiful and I highly recommend that you give them a while yourself.
