A Super Duper Sunday | Astonishing Premiere with Southampton Bloggers and P&O Cruises*

I fell in love with cruising when I enjoyed my first one a couple of years ago, so I was ecstatic when I received an invitation to join Southampton Bloggers to board P&O Cruises' Britannia to enjoy a very special premiere of the entertainment team's upcoming show, Astonishing. The fact it is produced by TV presenter and magician Stephen Mulhern and fellow performer Jonny Wilkes, only served to make me more excited!

So, last Sunday, I headed to Ocean Terminal to meet my fellow blogging ladies. We headed down the red carpet and posed for photographs, while craning our heads to catch a better glimpse of Mr Mulhern who had emerged and was greeting guests. Sadly, we just weren't quick enough to grab a snap with him!

Feeling like celebrities, we went through to check in and while waiting to venture onto the ship, we got to enjoy some magic tricks performed by Colin Phillips. I love losing myself in magic and being left in complete shock after watching, with not how clue how the feat has been achieved - and Colin was great! You can see some of the tricks Colin did for us over on my highlights on Instagram.

Britannia is the biggest of P&O's cruise ships and incredibly luxurious. It boasts more than ten different dining spots, a host of bars and entertainment venues and still has enough space for more than 3,500 passengers! From the moment we stepped through to the entrance it felt like we had been transported to the fanciest of five star hotels and every inch of the place was absolutely immaculately decorated.

First we were taken through to watch a live band, where we were offered champagne and bucks fizz and waiting staff brought round a host of different delicious canapes for us to sample. This girl tried caviar for the first time - and it was far nicer than I expected too! Following this we were led through to Headliners Theatre, and handed a mini bottle of Lansen to sip own while watching the Astonishing Show. We also happened to spot Declan Donnelly in the audience, who gave us a wave when he clocked as trying to take a candid snap!

I won't go in to too much detail about Astonishing because I don't want to ruin it for anyone else, but I can say it was not only 'Astonishing' by name, but by nature as well. The performers were incredible and moved seamlessly between their different tricks and again, I was left speechless on multiple occasions - particularly when the audience was involved in one of the tricks! What made the show so spectacular was that interspersed between the magic was the most fantastic singing and dancing which added a whole extra dimension. I would love to see the show again and, following last weekend's cruise ship experience we've decided that we want to do one for our honeymoon - so maybe I will.

Once the show was over, we went through to another restaurant to have afternoon tea. There were lots of delicious cakes on the tables and we couldn't help but dive right in and fill our plates, before the savoury items had been brought out! Ooops! A whole seven days later, I am still dreaming about the delicious warm mini cheese and onion pastries and the cream tea. Being a Cornish girl, jam and cream scones were so up my street - naturally.

At the end of the afternoon, I have to admit I was gutted to have to disembark. The whole event was absolutely fantastic and I am already counting down to the next time I get to hop on a P&O ship!
