Keeping your pout pristine with Lipcote!

In the last few months, I’ve really taken a liking to darker matte lipsticks. While I love the instant glam you get with a bold lippy, the longevity can be a bit of a problem.

I have a friend with a penchant for bright lippy, and when I asked how she kept her pout looking perfecto - she pointed me to Lipcote! It’s a really cheap product, at about £2.79 at Boots stores, and I imagine it will last me for some time. It’s a small bottle, with a brush that mostly resembles one you might find in your nail vanish. You apply over your favourite lipstick, leave to dry, and you should find it lasts twice as long. It’s quite a watery formula, so a little bit does tend to go a long way. While the Lipcote is drying, you do get a bit of tingly sensation - but this didn’t really bother me. It dries really quickly, which is great too.

Generally, I’ve been really impressed with Lipcote. That’s not to say I didn’t have some teething problems at first. It’s really important to let the Lipcote later dry, rather than rub your lips together like you might to rub lipsticks in a little more. Also, there is little point in trying this with shimmery or slightly glossy lipsticks. I found this causes the lipstick to disperse a little bit on my lips - definitely not a chic look!

For my matte sticks though, I would really recommend this. As you can probably tell, I’ve been using this over reds - hence the slight tint in the bottle. Maybe it is high time for me to purchase some more lip pies and carry out further experimentation. Any excuse to shop!
