CBD Oil: The New Skincare Essential? Testing Out MGC Derma*

When I start using new skincare products, I always make sure to give it a fair go and so, for the last couple of months, I’ve been trying out some products from MGC Derma. Currently, the brand has three different lines: Derma Plus, Essentials and Anti-Ageing and I have been sampling the latter.

I was, admittedly, unfamiliar with the brand when they first contacted me but I am always keen to test out different things and I was really intrigued by a particular key ingredient used throughout MGC Derma's range. That ingredient? CBD oil.

I’ve been seeing a lot of talk lately about the use of cannabidiol, or CBD as it is perhaps more commonly known, in the beauty industry. A chemical which is found in the cannabis plant, CBD is non-psychoactive and has anti-inflammatory properties, which has led it to become a powerful addition to skincare products.

Firmer, younger looking skin and reduced redness are just a few of the benefits which have been linked to CBD and so, it was pretty clear to me that this was something that I definitey needed to give a whirl. I picked out three things to incorporate into my usual regime that would hopefully leave my skin looking and feeling super fresh.

If you want to target the more problematic areas of your skin, I personally don’t think you can go wrong with opting for both a day and night cream. The day cream from this range has been formulated with CBD (of course), Hyaluronic Acid & Peptides. The combination of the three ingredients is designed to boost your skin’s natural radiance and leave it glowing. After applying a reasonably thin layer to your face you then wait for it to fully absorb.

I’ve been following this with the Anti Puffiness Dark Circles Eye Serum. I wouldn’t say my under eyes this is a problem area for me, as much as something I’m a little bit conscious of. Busy days and late nights don’t do my skin any favours and I feel like it always evident first under my eyes.

This product has been designed to combat that. Applied around the contour of the eye, it has been engineered to rejuvenate, nourish and moisturise while also helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I may only be 25, but those pesky things are definitely on my mind.

Using both of these products has proven to work well for me. What I have noticed in particular is that my skin appears to be clearer, reduced blemishes and generally a little bit younger and healthier - which could also be attributed to the inclusion of Vitamin C. After I have applied both and they are fully absorbed into my skin, I feel as though I have a good fresh base upon which to put on my makeup.

By the time I get home in the evening, I am always desperate to wipe the day away with a wash of micellar water. When my skin is freshly clean, I then go in with the night cream. As well as CBD, this also contains stem cells and algae which helps to really moisturise the skin. In the evenings, I always want to use deeply moisturising products, especially if I have been wearing a drying foundation. When I wake up in the morning, my skin feels softer and I am ready to begin the cycle again.

Actively using these products has signified a pleasant improvement in the appearance of my skin and the reduction in fine lines and I will certainly continue to use them. I particularly like that they contain a host of natural active ingredients that target the early signs of aging, so I really do feel like I am ahead of the game.
