My goals for 2016!

1/01/2016

I've spent many a 31st December creating lists as long as my arm of all of the unrealistic things I will do or change to achieve that 'new year, new me' when the clock chimes midnight.

This year, I decided I no longer wanted to subscribe to that sort of rubbish. I had a great 2015, and it wasn't because I went to the gym seven days a week and stopped eating cake, or because I cut out alcohol or quit spending inordinate amounts of money on makeup. News flash: I did none of these things (and I had some godawful hangovers to prove it) - because I was too busy doing the things that really mattered.

In 2015, I finally moved into my own place with my boyfriend. After two years of working hard, I got a new job that I really enjoy - and a pretty pay rise to boot. I went on my first girls holiday, I ran two races for charity, I reached 10,000 view on this blog...

I'm proud of what I achieved in 2015, and so going into 2016, I am going to try not to concern myself with the superficial crap and unreasonable restrictions and I'm just going to live happily with a few little goals for myself, to improve on last year's successes.

1. Make the most of that gym membership

How typical, I know. When I joined my newest gym two years ago, I had a posse of gal pals to go with me. I'm now the only one left with an active membership (go me, right?), but with the absence of a good gym buddy sometimes it is hard to force myself to get my butt in gear, lace up my trainers and get down to the treadmill.

This year, I'm determined to make the effort to get to the gym regularly - even if I am a loner! The fact I've also just bought the most beautiful gym trainers - easily the pinkest things I own - should help get that little bit more motivated.

2. Look after my skin more

It's no secret I don't quite have the youthful skin I once did as a teenager, and now I'm in my twenties it's high time I paid it a little more attention. I find it so easy to forget to do things like moisturise - even though I'm meticulous about taking makeup off and going to bed fresh faced.

This year I'll be striving to give my skin a little bit more TLC, so I am not faced with the desperate reality of plastering ALL of the lotions and potions all over my body on a Sunday night.

3. Improve my photography skills

If you follow me on Twitter, you've probably heard me banging on about that fantastic photography course that I took. It really helped me to get to grips with the controls of my camera, and learn how to get the best shot. My blog photos for one have come on SUCH a long way since, but I still need to get lots of practice in and keep developing my skills.

This year, I'll be working harder on my personal portfolio, blog snaps and hopefully ensuring that my content is that bit more visually appealing for my followers. You're welcome guys!

I won't be needing a 'new me' in 2016 because I was doing just great last year. My aim is to be a better me, remaining ambitious and goal orientated. So wish me luck guys!

Happy 2016 to all of my lovely readers. Wishing you all a wonderful year ahead.
